Sandy and Paul Obester founded this winery under the guidance of Sandy's retired grandfather, John Gemello, founder of the famous Gemello Winery. Later, they acquired Gemello Winery, when Sany's uncle Mario Gemelloretired. Sandy made the wines at Gemello, and Paul at Obester. When the Gemello property was sold, Obester continued to release the occasional special bottling under the Gemello label. In 2002, the Kellogg family relaunched the winery as La Nebbia.
