Zayante Vineyards
1984: Greg Nolten and Kathleen Starkey-Nolten purchased the ranch near Felton and re-established the vineyard. Greg planted the current vines by hand on their own roots in the sandy soils. The vines were watered for only one year, then dry-farmed ever since.
1988: Zayante Vineyard bonded.
Greg managed the vineyard with a commitment to organic farming practices and environmental stewardship, maintaining the dry-farmed vines on their own roots.
Legacy
The current vines planted by Greg are now over 40 years old and continue to produce distinctive wines.
January 2021: Greg Nolten passed away.
2024: The vineyard was acquired by Charles and Sarah Liang, who renamed it Green Earth as a tribute to the environmental stewardship of Greg Nolten and Kathleen Starkey.
