The current RTK GPS base station is neither well designed nor waterproof. The project would consist of specing and installing waterproof connectors for the side of the box, mounting all the IC boards rigidly within the box, and mounting the radio antenna.

Requirements

• All indicator lights on IC board must be clearly visible on opening the box lid
• All connectors on board accessible for cables
• Enclosure is rated to IP65 (IP Rating Chart)
• Box has no pass-through wires (all connections have ports externally to the box
• Can fully set up GPS without opening the enclosure

Steps

• Replicate or download the following parts in CAD:
  • Plastic enclosure
  • Base Station Electrical Components (See Swift Navigation RTK GPS)
  • Necessary internal cables (just enough length to provide clearance; measure reasonable bend radius for wire)
  • Any other necessary parts
• Spec out necessary panel connectors
• Design cutout side of enclosure to accomodate panel connectors
• Install connecters and cutout side of enclosure
• IP65-test enclosure
• Design and manufacture internal IC framework
• Print and mount internal IC mount framework
• Install wiring and test unit

Extensions

• Printed instructions on inner lid
  • Waterproof instruction sheet and place to put unit documentation as a paper sleeve.
• Add stand-offs and weather-protected air-cooling
  • Fan intake and output should be on the bottom of the box to protect from inclement weather, stand-offs to allow for proper airflow
• Breakout LEDs
  • Quick diagnostics of salient settings on the boards through breaking out LEDs to outer surface of enclosure
• Breakout reset button
  • Ability to press board reset button without opening enclosure.
