Link 2 NAS together
We sometimes want to link 2 NAS together, especially since we have the new Bigfoot NAS that sometimes need data from the Yeti NAS. To do so, we need to add new folder to the Shared
folder. Note that you can mount a shared folder everywhere on the NAS, but it is best to keep it in the Shared
folder so that we know it cames from another NAS.
To do so, we need to first add a wired connection to the two NAS. Note that the IP address should be static so that the link between the two NAS is stable even if we unplug them and plug them back. Here are the steps to do so:
-
Go to Control Panel -> Network -> Network Interface.
-
Click on the desired LAN and click on Edit
-
Fill the use manual configuration options.
Here is an example on the Bigfoot NAS.
Once the two NAS are linked physically, we can mount a remote folder. For example, this is what we would do to mount the FoMo folder from the Bigfoot NAS with the static IP we assigned.
-
Go to File Station -> Shared.
-
Click on Tools -> Mount Remote Folder -> CIFS Shared Folder.
- Fill the information of the Bigfoot folder.
You now have the Bigfoot FoMo folder mounted to Shared/Bigfoot on the Yeti NAS.
