If you’re worried about strictly conserving mass & energy, then you want to avoid mass overflows.

All nodes count how many overflow frames have occurred fro them in their mConservationErrors.mMassOverflows term.

Below is an example — here all of the non-capacitive nodes are overflowing every frame:

The nodes can log how much total mass, constituent mass, and energy has been gained or lost in them due to mass overflows. This logging is disabled by default but there are several ways you can turn it on. See Fluid Conservation Error Data for a guide.
