Lab Meeting August 16, 2019

11:00 AM Meet with 3 new lab members: DeVante, Jessica, Rachel

Checklist of details to complete asap

• Get your UFID photo id card • Get a parking decal • Let me know your UFID number to get Genetics Institute (UFGI) door access via your card (RH) • Set up lab printer access for your laptop with UFGI IT folks (DD, RH) • Use Chrome as your default browser for use with paperpile, google docs, anvio • Set up a paperpile account with code provided (DD, RH) • Figure out how to access the lab’s UFGI shared drive • Sign up for github (DD, RH) and look around at the resources on the wiki • Sign up for a research computing account to use the Hipergator • Accept the invite from Gator Tracs/ LATCH system and complete the required online safety trainings

NSF Graduate Research Fellowships (Jessica & Rachel should apply, DeVante is ineligible b/c already has MS, but he also doesn’t need it b/c he has McKnight fellowship) Applications due Oct 21, 2019 for Life Sciences stipend: $34,000 and $12,000 toward tuition 3 years of support

Fall semester: • Individual Development Plan • Picking dissertation topics/literature reviews/proposals • Writing exercises

Looking ahead: • Conferences • MBL Microbial Diversity course or STAMPS (summer in Woods Hole, Mass.)

12:00 – meet with the rest of the lab, including Hanh on zoom MeyerLab shared folder on paperpile Resources on wiki vs shared drive at UFGI
