I dwell beside a quiet lake
No grand command no course to make
The waters rest the waters flow
I watch the tides and let them go
My little ship can roam or stay
And find another shore each day
A mobile desk a travelling light
A home that moves yet anchors right
One lagoon for work and thought
One for journeys wisdom sought
One for walking one for play
One for sitting through the day
One for chanting one for rest
One for friends and one for quest
One for writing thoughts that roam
One for simply being home
I keep the lantern burning bright
But do not chase the passing light
The ships that come may ask the way
I guide their course then let them stray
No need to build no need to lead
No need to plant another seed
If something calls then I may go
If nothing calls then stillness flows
Two hundred seventeen papers behind
Yet still no finish line to find
The papers rise like ripples wide
Then settle softly with the tide
I have crossed seas and crossed the years
Through changing hopes and changing fears
From Singapore and back again
Through fields of code and books and men
I learned to move I learned to stand
I learned to build with borrowed land
And now I learn the harder art
To leave some spaces without chart
So here I float beneath the sun
No race to lose no race to run
The lake is wide the world is near
And nothing urgent calls me here
Station Master Capybara
Neither anchor nor wanderer
I keep the light I tend the shore
And move when movement asks for more
I guide the directions as they arise
I answer the changing wind and skies
I release the endings to their own
And find that stillness feels like home
