Portraits of Science and Education - mauriceling/mauriceling.github.io GitHub Wiki

The pursuit of science is not in solitude but rather, full of interactions. We interact with colleagues and peers, and with students and juniors. We interact face-to-face but geography is not a limitation - I had worked on projects and wrote papers almost entirely via emails and instant messengers. I am interested in this social and cultural aspect of science and education - how we do science? How we teach science? How we interact with seniors, colleagues, and students? How we agree to disagree; and yet, maintain professional and personal friendships?

This, I explore through an (auto)ethnographical and (auto)biographical approach. Ethnography focuses on the role of culture in human interactions while biography / narrative focuses on the individual. Using my own experiences as a starting point, I examine the how and why science is done the way it is. By doing so, I also reflect on my own actions and thoughts.
