First Morning of Chosen Work - mauriceling/mauriceling.github.io GitHub Wiki
No bell has rung no crowd has cheered
Yet something subtle has disappeared
The quiet weight I used to bear
Has thinned into the open air
No task I take is born of need
No clock commands no debts to feed
I rise because the light is kind
And follow threads that move my mind
If work appears it comes by choice
I am a curious hand and a willing voice
If none arrives the day is whole
I am a steady breath and a settled soul
I fast from striving eat from play
While let intention shape the day
Some hours build some hours rest
With no urge to measure which is best
The fields are sown the walls stand strong
The tides have learned their patient song
I walk the ground I once defended
And find the battle long since ended
What comes I greet what goes I bless
There is no hunger now for more or less
This first free dawn is soft and clear
No grand arrival brought me here
Just peace that stays and does not roam
Only a quiet man at last at home
