Kinetic model is a mathematical or computational model that has been developed and applied in many industries. Numerous kinetic models have been constructed and used to study different area of systems biology. The areas include modelling metabolic, enzymatic, signalling pathway, gene regulation, drug development and cellular behaviour. Hence, a scoping review was performed using PubMed for studies published prior to 2026. 128 articles out of 193 articles were included and classified into 2 main themes: (a) development of kinetic model, and (b) application of kinetic model. The majority of these papers focused on the development of kinetic model through constructing, adopting and modifying. Metabolism and enzymatic models are the most developed ones. Through this review, we could discover which type of kinetic models are available and which type of kinetic model requires further research or improvement which is an essential tool in studying systems biology.
