Legendary Power Armor - jackeys/Power-Armor-to-the-People GitHub Wiki

There is a rare chance for legendary power armor to spawn in one of these ways:

  • As a drop from legendary enemies
  • As an equipped item on a power armored enemy (requires F4SE)
  • For a few sets, for sale at a vendor or redemption machine

Legendary Effects

All of the legendary effects that can apply to normal armor can also apply to power armor, with the exception of reducing fall damage. With the Far Harbor patch, those legendary effects are available, too. Additionally, there are new legendary effects that are exclusive to power armor. All of these legendary effects can be toggled using Mod Configuration Menu.

The following legendary effects are only available for power armor:

Aerodynamic* Reduces jet pack AP drain by 15% and weighs significantly less All

Drop Trooper Impact landing does double damage Legs only
Preserving Power armor cannot be broken when fusion core charge is below 25% Torso only
Recharging Fusion core energy slowly recharges while standing still Torso only
  • Drop Trooper damage is multiplicative if both legs have the effect, so two legs will result in 4 times as much damage from impact landing
  • Drop Trooper damage increases by 50% if the player has the third rank of Pain Train
  • The jet pack AP drain effect for Aerodynamic only works with F4SE installed
  • Only miscellaneous mods that do not alter the appearance of power armor can be installed in the Custom mod slot
    • For example, the jet pack can not be installed in the Custom mod slot
  • The Custom mod slot cannot hold miscellaneous mods that exist for only a single set of power armor, but its mods can be moved from one Custom power armor to another
  • Hardening grants +15 DR/ER at 75% armor health, +30 DR/ER at 50% armor health, and +45 at 25% armor health
  • Overclocked grants:
    • +20 AP and AP regenerates 75% faster above 75% charge,
    • +15 AP and AP regenerates 50% faster above 50% charge
    • +5 AP and AP regenerates 25% faster above 25% charge
  • When using the Stuff of Legend patch, the Hardening legendary mod dropped by legendary robots can only be applied to the torso
  • Stacking multiple Reflecting pieces increases the chance of dealing damage

Unique Power Armor

In addition to the exclusive legendary effects above, there are many unique power armor pieces available. Using the Mod Configuration Menu, these unique effects can be individually toggled to be included as an available legendary effect exclusive to power armor.

Standard Legendary Drops

The following levels are when each of the power armor sets begin to drop from legendary enemies:

Level Power Armor Set
1 Raider Power Armor, Excavator Power Armor, Cagebreaker Power Armor
7 T-45, Tribal Power Armor
14 T-51, T-51c, Hellcat
21 T-60, Institute Power Armor, Enclave X-02, Midwest Power Armor Evolution, SE-01, Submersible Power Armor Redux
28 X-01, X-02 (CC), Hellfire (CC), Hellfire X-03, Overboss Power Armor*, Enclave Power Armor, Synth Power Armor
35 T-65, X-02 (Black Devil)
42 Classic Advanced Power Armor, Ultracite
  • Each power armor set is only available as a legendary drop for 14 levels, with a lower drop chance 7 levels above when it was introduced
    • For example, T-45 starts showing up at level 7, becomes half as likely to drop at level 14 when T-51 begins dropping, and then is no longer available at level 21
    • These levels are based on encounter zones, not player level, so legendary T-45 can still be found at a high level by going to a low level area
  • The levels indicated above show when the weakest lining for each piece of armor begins to drop. A stronger lining unlocks every 4 levels afterwards for as long as the power armor can drop
  • Overboss Power Armor from Nuka-World does not drop by default, keeping it a unique set, but this can be configured using MCM

Drop Rates

By default, each legendary item has a 50% chance of being a weapon, a 40% chance of being armor, and a 10% chance of being power armor. If you are using Mod Configuration Menu, you can adjust the split between armor and power armor, but weapons will always make up 50% of the legendary drops.

Drop rates for power armor pieces also vary compared to one another based on the level of the encounter zone. Every 7 levels, a new tier of power armor unlocks. When a new power armor set is able to drop, it will have a 66% chance of dropping for the next 7 levels, with the previous tier of power armor having a 33% chance of dropping. 14 levels beyond when a power armor set is able to drop, it has a 0% chance to drop as there are only ever two tiers of power armor that can drop at a time. The only exception to this is for encounter zones whose level is at least 7 above the final tier, which then guarantees that only top tier power armor will drop.

Equipped Legendary Power Armor

This feature requires Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE).

Each power armored enemy has a chance that one of the pieces of power armor they are wearing will be legendary. This will be one of the pieces they are normally wearing, so if you fight an enemy in X-02, a piece of that X-02 set would be legendary. See the Power Armored Enemies page to see which enemies can wear each set and at what level.

By default, normal power armored enemies have a 5% chance of having a legendary power armor piece equipped, and legendary power armored enemies have a 20% chance of having a legendary power armor piece equipped in addition to the normal legendary item they drop. If you are using Mod Configuration Menu, you can adjust these chances.

Because of a bug with the Institute Power Armor, legendary versions cannot be equipped by enemies. Turning them into legendary items causes them to temporarily be unequipped, and when this happens, parts of the power armor turn invisible.

If the Stuff of Legend patch is being used, this feature is disabled and will be removed from the configuration menu. Stuff of Legend does similar things, but for all equipped items.

Legendary Power Armor at Vendors

Some power armor sets have a chance to be sold as legendary items from vendors. By default, there is a 15% chance that every 48 hours an eligible power armor piece will be made legendary at the corresponding vendor. If you are using Mod Configuration Menu, you can adjust this chance.

Legendary items from the following power armor sets can be found for purchase:

Level Power Armor Set Vendor Location
1 Institute Power Armor The Institute - Requisitions
1 T-49 The Collector - Traveling
21 Red Shift Power Armor, Horse Power Armor* The Collector - Traveling
25 Vault-Tec Power Armor Vault 81 - The Depot
28 Soviet Power Armor The Collector - Traveling
35 Liberty Power Armor The Collector - Traveling

See the Vendors section for more details.

  • Horse Power Armor is not available from The Collector by default, but this can be enabled in MCM

Captain Cosmos Redemption Machine

If you own the Captain Cosmos Creation Club content, the redemption machines have a chance to provide legendary CC-00 power armor and Cosmic Cannons. By default, there is a 10% chance of getting a legendary with each redemption. If you are using Mod Configuration Menu, you can adjust this chance.

Settler Vigilante Vendor-O-Tron 2000

The Settler Vigilante mod adds a new settlement object under Power -> Miscellaneous that can dispense Settler Vigilante power armor. By default, there is a 2% chance of power armor purchased this way being legendary. If you are using Mod Configuration Menu, you can adjust this chance.
