In Playtest!

Steam version does not support OpenGL, wherefore you can't activate GPU Acceleration in the settings. However, the game is pretty fast even without it, because it still uses GPU but only to a limited extent.

You can't disable auto-update in Steam, but if your saved games become invalid, you can revert back to a compatible version of GnollHack as follows:

1. Go to GnollHack Properties in Steam.
2. Go to the Betas tab.
3. Select a compatible version of GnollHack there.

The legacy Windows version of GnollHack is available on the GitHub releases page.

• GnollHack.exe is the ASCII version of the game. It has no sounds.
• GnollHackW.exe is the graphical version of the game. It also has sounds.

1. Download the zip file attached to the latest release.
2. Unzip it to a folder on your computer.
3. Click GnollHackW.exe to play.

There are no graphical legacy macOS and Linux versions of GnollHack. Therefore, you need to do the following:

1. Download the legacy Windows app.
2. Run it with Wine or PlayOnMac.
