GnollHack supports the following downloads:

Please disable auto-update for GnollHack in Google Play Store.

Please disable auto-update in the iOS Phone Settings.

• Requires 3 GB RAM but may work with 2 GB RAM. View supported iPhones and iPads.

You can't disable auto-update in Steam, but if your saved games become invalid, you can revert back to a compatible version of GnollHack as follows:

1. Go to GnollHack Properties in Steam.
2. Go to the Betas tab.
3. Select a compatible version of GnollHack there.

• Save File Synchronization — Sync your saved games across multiple PCs.
• Revert to Old Version — You can revert to an old version using the Betas tab in the GnollHack properties in Steam (see above).

For some people, the loading doesn't finish after they click the Play Game button. If you encounter this problem, you need to install the game using an MSIX package (see below). For some reason, your system is incompatible with the unpackaged Steam version.

If the Steam version doesn't work for you, you can install an MSIX packaged version from GitHub Releases.

• Please note that the MSIX package has a .msix extension so that you download the right file.

• You need admin rights to do so.
• The icon of GnollHack installed using the MSIX package will have a blue background.

You can run the iOS version of GnollHack on Apple Silicon Macs with an M1 or later processor.

• Keyboard shortcuts do not work.

The legacy Windows version of GnollHack is available on the GitHub releases page.

• You need to download the ZIP file and extract it.
• GnollHack.exe is the ASCII version of the game. It has no sounds.
• GnollHackW.exe is the graphical version of the game. It also has sounds.

1. Unzip the ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
2. Click GnollHack.exe or GnollHackW.exe to play.

There are no graphical legacy macOS and Linux versions of GnollHack. Therefore, you need to do the following:

1. Download the legacy Windows app.
2. Run it with Wine or PlayOnMac.
