Managing Consultants and Specialities
This article covers the admin tasks of creating, editing, and organising the consultants and specialities used in channelling.
Navigation
Menu → Channelling → Management
From the Management index page, expand the Staff tab to access:
- Manage Specialities →
/channel/maintanance/doctorSpeciality/List - Manage Consultants → navigates to the admin consultant management page
The Consultants tab also provides:
- Add Channelling Consultants to Institutions — assigns consultants to specific institution branches
Managing Specialities
Specialities are the clinical disciplines used to group and filter consultants (e.g., Cardiology, Paediatrics, Neurology, General Surgery).
View All Specialities
Management → Staff → Manage Specialities
A list of all configured specialities is shown with their names and any associated details.
Add a New Speciality
- Click Create (or the Add / New button).
- Fill in:
- Name — full speciality name (e.g., Cardiology)
- Code — short code if required (e.g., CARD)
- Description — optional longer description
- Click Save.
Edit a Speciality
- Click the Edit button next to the speciality.
- Update the name or other fields.
- Save.
Editing a speciality name updates it everywhere it is referenced, including on booking screens and reports.
View Speciality Details
Click View to see the full details of a speciality including linked consultants.
Managing Consultants
Consultants are the doctors who hold channelling sessions. Each consultant is linked to one or more specialities.
Access Consultant Management
Management → Staff → Manage Consultants
This opens the consultant administration page where you can:
- Create new consultant profiles
- Edit existing profiles
- View consultant details
- Link consultants to specialities
Creating a Consultant Profile
- Click Create / Add.
- Fill in the consultant's details:

| Title | Dr., Prof., etc. |
| First Name | Consultant's first name |
| Last Name | Surname |
| Qualifications | Academic and professional qualifications (displayed on Doctor Card) |
| Primary Speciality | The main clinical speciality |
| Additional Specialities | Any secondary specialities |
| Phone / Contact | Contact details |
| Photo | Upload a photo (used on Doctor Card) |
| Registration Number | Professional registration number |
| Active | Whether the consultant is currently active |
- Click Save.
Linking a Consultant to an Institution
To allow a consultant to hold sessions at a specific branch or institution:
Management → Consultants → Add Channelling Consultants to Institutions
- Select the consultant.
- Select the institution (branch/site).
- Save the assignment.
Only consultants linked to an institution appear in the Channel Booking View when logged into that institution.
Doctor-Speciality Links
Management → Staff → Manage Specialities (in the doctor-speciality list, /channel/maintanance/doctorSpeciality/List)
This screen manages the many-to-many relationship between doctors and specialities. Use it to:
- Add an additional speciality to a consultant
- Remove a speciality link that is no longer needed
