This dialog allows you to configure a digital tuner card for use in NextPVR.

This section allows you to identify the type
The name of the device as identified by Windows.
In systems with more than one device of the same type, this number is used to identify the individual card.
Identifies the type of device.
Set whether this device is enabled and available for use within NextPVR.
In order to watch encrypted channels with your DVB-S/T/C digital device, there is a need to configure NextPVR to either use a Common Interface H/W module or Multidec. This section allows you to choose which method to use and to set up the configuration.
Choose either Common Interface H/W or Multidec depending on H/W and chosen method.
The following CI H/W devices are supported by NextPVR:
- Hauppauge WinTV-CI device WinTV-CI
- FireDTV devices with built-in CI module
- TechnoTrend devices with built-in CI module
- Twinhan devices with built-in CI module
Besides installing the CI H/W device according to the specific vendors instructions no additional configuration is needed in NextPVR.
Note: there is a limitation using the Hauppauge WinTV-CI device for DVB-S2 (and proably also DVB-T2) HD channels as the device is based on USB2 there seems to be a problem with the data transfer rate. See this support thread for more information
The set-up and configuration of Multidec is slightly more complex than using a CI module and requires an installation of a separate card reader, setting up a card server and configuration of card clients in NextPVR. However, the Multidec option allows you to multirecord on the same device. See Instances below for more information on multirecord.
Multidec Configuration and setup
If Multidec is used, here is where the number of Instances are configured. Setting up more than one instance allows NextPVR to multirecord two or more shows simultaneously. However, NextPVR can only multirecord channels on the same frequency.
Note: there is a need to configure a card client for each instance created in NextPVR.
There is no limit on the number of instances for Multidec, but in reality you probably wouldn't want more than 2 or 3 instances.
This area will show the configuration options available for the selected device type. In this example, the settings for a Hauppauge DVB-T device is shown.
The scan results are listed here. Existing channels are shown 'greyed out' for reference.
Shows the Digital Channels Setup dialog and starts scanning for channels using the configured settings. Once the scan is complete, untick any channels you don't want and click OK.
Deletes the selected channel.
You can double click on a channel to edit tuning information such as frequency, SID, service type and so on. This can be useful for advanced users wanting to make tweaks when broadcasters move stuff around.
