Enemy Types (Taxa) - dredmor-com/dungeons-of-dredmor GitHub Wiki
Taxa is the notation of an enemy's "species" within the game system, for spell and skill-related purposes. The current taxa include both "conventional" or common monsters, special taxa for some entities and customs.

---|---|---|
Animal |
![]() The humble Diggle |
Vampires drain blood from animals, Big Game Hunters butcher and gain extra XP from animals, Vegans get debuffs from killing animals, and animals are friendly towards Vegans. |
Vegetable |

Construct |

Other |

Rogue Scientists get Alchemical Ooze from killing Others. Vampires drain blood from Others (poorly). |
Demon |
![]() The fiendish Swarmy |
Demonologists have several minor advantages when fighting demons. Vampires drain blood from Demons (poorly). |

![]() A fancy Zomby |

Taxa | Notes |
---|---|
Diggle Prince | This taxa is used on Vlad Digula. |
Gas Canister | This taxa is used on Gas Canister, and is used to target the canister in the Gas Canister Set. |
For modding purposes, you may create your own taxa, and they work as you'd expect: If you assign a taxa to a mod-created creature and then use that taxa in mod-created spells, the spells will only affect that creature.
The player and inanimate targets such as destructible walls match ALL Taxa, so you cannot use Taxa to prevent a spell from affecting the player.
