A few blocks from my destination, the southbound #99 bus was idling in front of a grocery store, waiting for a green light. Right outside the window was a tallish utility box, with a sheet was draped over it, covered with weird slogans and sentences I could make little sense of. A hundred lines of felt-pen or painted text in every direction.

Only two lines approximated human thought. One sentence said, "If it looks green it's brown," and while I struggled with that concept, another sentence jumped out at me: "Jew cops did 9/11."

Ah, sweet Jewish Jesus.

"Hey, driver, can I get off here please?" I asked. He's supposed to say no, because you can only get on or off the bus at bus stops, but we were in the curb lane so the driver didn't even say anything, just opened the door, and I darted off.

Nobody was around or maybe I wouldn't have had the balls to do it. Grabbed the sheet, and pulled up some duct tape that had attached it to the utility box, rip rip rip. Then I wadded it all up and tried to stuff it into the trash can at the corner, but the can was mostly full and it wouldn't fit.

Instead I carried it half a block further — I was headed that way anyway — and tossed it over a chain-link fence, into the parking lot of an out-of-business business.

And that's my good deed for November.

"I bet you're someone who beats off a lot."
"Well, it depends on how you define 'a lot'."
