The 2010 CASPER Workshop will be held at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics from 16 to 20 August 2010. Registration is now open. For a schedule of talks, check the workshop program.

Rates at nearby hotels start at USD75 per person per night. Public transit in Boston is excellent, so renting a car should not be necessary. To get to Cambridge from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), take the MBTA Silver Line and transfer to the Red Line inbound. The city of Boston is served primarily by Logan Airport, which is right in the city itself (actually on an island in the harbor in the East Boston neighborhood). For those of you traveling in by air, it's the most convenient airport by far, since it is well connected by public transportation which can get you among other places to Harvard Square. We recommend the use of public transportation, and discourage the use of rental cars, since Boston is not very car friendly, and parking near the CfA will be problematic (or at least expensive). The most straightforward way to get to Harvard Square is to pick up the Silver Line S1 service (sort of a trolley bus, but with dedicated tunnels to downtown) from the sidewalk outside your terminal, take it to South Station, and transfer there to the Red Line subway in the direction of Alewife (will be labeled "Inbound" service at South Station. Take it to Harvard Square for the Sheraton Commander hotel, or to Alewife, which is fairly close the the Tria. If you're in a B&B you should get directions from them.

An alternative route is Airport Shuttle Bus to Blue Line subway inbound, to Government Center, transfer to Green Line one stop inbound to Park Street, and then Red Line in the direction of Alewife. If you happen to arrive after midnight, public transport may be shut down, and you may have to take a taxi (about $40 all told to Harvard Square).

For those of you driving to Cambridge to attend on a daily basis, a limited number of parking spots are available at a cost of $10 per day.

The adventurous among looking for an airfare deal may want to at least look at flying into Manchester, NH or Providence, RI. Sometimes there are less expensive flights on offer, but it comes at the cost of 1.5 hours or so on the bus to get to Boston.
