You’ve made it to the final page of your document conversion! There’s not much left to do now other than selecting the file format that you’d like to download and have Bookalope build your final files.
We’ve already talked about the difference between the test version and full version of your book in the beginning. Now, in order to purchase the full version of your converted book, you need to assign a Plan to this Bookflow. You can do that either on the Books overview page or you can follow the instructions at the top of this page.
Bookalope offers multiple output formats to choose from, and for each a number of options. By default, the various file format sections are collapsed:

Just like on the other pages, you have a small +
icon next to the format name which you can use to open and collapse any of the file format sections.
We’ve discussed the test version and the full version of your book previously, and clarified that you’ll have to assign a plan to this Bookflow if you’d like to download the full version. We’ve also talked about billing and plans in our Profile section, so you’re probably already familiar with these topics.
Depending on your billing and plan setup, Bookalope will show you different banners at the top of Convert page that guide you through purchasing a plan and assigning a plan to this Bookflow. If you haven’t set up billing yet, then you’ll see the following note:

You can follow the link in the banner which will take you to your Profile page. If you’ve already set up your billing information but haven’t purchased a plan yet, you’ll see the following note:

Here, too, just follow the link in the banner. Once you’ve purchased a plan, you need to assign it to this Bookflow:

Once again, click the link in the banner. This will pop open a window where you can select a plan and assign it to this Bookflow:

You can always change the plan that you’ve assigned to a Bookflow by following the link in the banner:

Bookalope supports a number of different export file formats, notably ebooks, print-ready PDF, and Adobe InDesign. It also supports a variety of XML flavors that integrate into existing workflows; if you’d like to add one that works better for your specific setup, please contact us to discuss this customization further.
Whatever format is covered by your plan, converting your document always follows the same steps. Click the +
icon or file format that you’d like to use to pop open the appropriate conversion section that always looks like this:

On the left side, you will find a select box where you can choose a visual design for your book. Because Bookalope has cleaned up and structured your document already, applying styles yields a well-designed and consistent looking book. If you export an ebook then Bookalope makes sure that it meets the highest industry standards by running EPUBCheck and DAISY’s Ace.
Depending on the plan that you’ve assigned to this Bookflow and depending on the file format you chose, Bookalope offers various conversion options.
Generate missing content from metadata. Traditionally, books have a cover page, a half-title and a title page, a copyright page, a TOC, and so forth. Given the correct metadata for your book, Bookalope can generate such content automatically from the metadata. Even better, if you have publisher specific marketing content or would like to add a customized menu into your e/book, then you can do so using this option. Please contact us to set up this feature and the customized content for your account.
Generate UTM parameters. If your ebook contains links to external websites, for example your company’s homepage or social media pages, then Bookalope allows you to track readers’ clicks on those links using standard UTM parameters that integrate seamlessly with your existing marketing campaign tracking. Please see our Tracking External Link Use in Ebooks recipe for more details!
Exporting notes. Bookalope manages text notes for you, and upon exporting your book you can choose whether you’d like those notes transformed into footnotes or endnotes. Footnotes are automatically enumerated across the whole book, whereas endnotes restart enumerating with every chapter. Furthermore, Bookalope will look for an “Endnote” chapter to consolidate your notes, and if no such chapter exists in your book it will create one for you.
Generate placable InDesign Story only. If you export an InDesign document, you have a choice between converting your document into a styled and designed document, or an unstyled but structured Story file that you can place into your own InDesign documents.
After you’ve selected the conversion options, click the Convert full version button. It’ll change into a disabled Converting… button first while Bookalope is busy building your book:

Once it’s done, Bookalope will make the file available for you to download:

You can download your converted book now. We sometimes add new features to the Bookalope server in which case you’d probably want to delete your current file and convert it again, and that’s what the Delete button is for. If you’d like to share your generated book using a public link, then simply click on the Link button (the chain-link icon) to copy that public link into your clipboard.
For Enterprise plans, an additional Edit proofs section shows at the bottom of the Convert page:

To generate a public link that you can share simply click the New button:

To learn more about sharing and editing proofs, please take a look at the Proofs section.
At the bottom of the page is a Review content button which will take you back to the Review page to further adjust and work with the structure and content of your book. This allows you to continuously make adjustments to your book until the final book looks perfect to you.
And that’s it! Congratulations, you’ve successfully converted your book 🎉
