Shatter overlapping regions into a group of separate, independently editable regions.
Category: Combine | Add menu: Combine > Split Regions
- Regions (region): one or more regions to shatter. Wherever they overlap, the shared area is cut out as a face of its own.
- Region (region): every disjoint face the inputs carve into, handed back as a group of separate, independently editable regions you can style, keep, or transform piece by piece.
Split Regions is the boolean that keeps everything. Where Union, Intersect, and Difference each throw part of the overlap away, Split cuts the inputs along every crossing and hands back each non-overlapping piece. Two overlapping circles become three faces - the two outer lunes and the lens between them.
It hands back a group of independent regions - each face as its own object rather than a single live boolean result - so you can style, keep, transform, or hand-edit the pieces individually. Arcs stay arcs - no sampling.
Each face is its own region, so the output is a list you can act on piece by piece: wire it into a keep-family node to drop some faces, or into Style to color them apart. The same operation is on the drawing canvas as Combine > Split Regions (see Regions & booleans).
