2 Wiki - Editing

  • Secion 2.5 Editing Basics covers Markdown essential to make the wiki as readable and aesthetic as possible. Refer back to this when you want to make it look a particular way.
  • Do not use categories (2.5.11) for this course. This along with other features such as signatures, templates etc are not supported in github wikimedia implementation.
  • **COME BACK TO THIS: ** not sure what 2.6 means. Should the titles of my journal entries have prefixes like "User:/BCB410-Journal" ???
  • All submissions for this course must be open source under creative commons or MIT license

3 Your Course Journal

  • markup code using the GeSHi extension
  • content to generally include: objective, estimate duration, workflows (anything necessary for reproducibility), conclusions
  • wiki-markup templates for journal entries

4 Insights!

  • pay attention to your thought processes in this course and record interesting thoughts on the insights! page

Plagiarism and academic integrity

Entry-3:-Plagiarism-Module-in-Bioinfo-Prep come back to this

Tasks

  • Task 1 - complete
  • Task 2 - half complete, need to find Prof Isserlin's User Page -> note: skipped creating the Journal page for now because I found it unnecessary but I could add it later
  • Task 3 - complete

To Do's for myself, things that are unclear

  • figure out namespaces and categories
  • is this Github wiki supposed to be viewable in a Wikipedia or course wiki type UI?
  • where can I find the rubric for the course journal? -> not sure how up to date this is but this is the rubric linked in chapter 4
  • a little confused, it says "I would prefer that you do not create new categories" but the tasks ask for categories to be added...?
  • are the tags supposed to be working...?
