Upgrade - aussig/BGS-Tally GitHub Wiki
Upgrading from a Previous Version
[!WARNING] If you are installing BGS-Tally for the first time, these are NOT the instructions for you. Take a look here instead →.
If you are upgrading from a previous version, carry on!
If you are running v3 or later of BGS-Tally, it should automatically update itself whenever a new version is released. Only follow the instructions below if:
- You are running a version earlier than v3 - i.e. v1.x or v2.x
- The automatic updating is for some reason not working for you
- You want to install a pre-release version of the plugin - either alpha or beta versions.
Step 1 - Download the BGS Tally Plugin
The latest version of the plugin can always be downloaded by clicking this link - this will download a zip file called BGS-Tally.zip
.
Step 2 - Extract the Zip file
Once this is downloaded, go to your Downloads
folder and right-click the BGS-Tally.zip
file, then select Extract All...
It will ask you where to extract the contents, just click Extract, which will put them inside a BGS-Tally
folder inside your Downloads
folder.
Step 3 - Keeping your Current Data
The plugin saves some data to the BGS-Tally
folder, so if you want to keep your progress you'll need to make sure this data is copied across to the new version. If you don't know where your old BGS-Tally
folder is, you can find it in the Plugin Settings panel in EDMC: See Steps 5-7 in the Installation instructions page for info on how to do this.
Files and Folders to Keep
After quitting EDMC, copy these files and folders - if they exist - across from your old BGS-Tally
folder to the new BGS-Tally
folder you extracted in Step 2:
Today.txt
Yesterday.txt
MissionLog.txt
activitydata\
otherdata\
Step 4 - Replace the Old with the New
Finally, just replace your old BGS-Tally
folder with the new one you just downloaded, and relaunch EDMC.
