Located in the south-western part of Leres' Eastern continent. Its four provinces and single protected territory extend from the Cairgon Ranges in the north, the ocean in the south and west and bordering on the wildlands of the united hordes in the east, covering 1.5 million square miles. Skylark's capital is the city of Skylark, and its two largest metropolitan areas are the Twin cities of Llurhore and O'anzitne, followed by the capital Skylark.

The original peoples of Skylark are the humans of the plains to the northwest and the Elves of the southeastern forests. Originally friendly but distant neighbours, they joined together to fight off the goblinoid hordes from the eastern wildernesses of Grirong and, over time, became close allies and eventually formed a single united kingdom.

Skylark is an elective monarchy, in the event of the monarch's death or their removal, a new monarch is selected by the council of theigns and the council of commons at an event known and an Althing. While this, and the power to remove the monarch, are technically the only ones that the councils possess, they also act as advisors to the king and generally represent their respective provinces' interests. The councils are formed of one representative from each class (the theigns, or nobility, and the commoners) for each province.

The removal of a monarch is considered an act of last resort and has never been attempted in Skylark's history. The process involves the calling of an Althing by a member of one of the councils, it requires a secret vote of a 4/5 majority from each the council of theigns and the council of commons.

Skylark is the only kingdom currently where laws are meant to apply equally, and fairly, regardless of race, creed, position or title.

In modern times, Skylark is an ally of the Khizian Empire of the Dwarves on the northern side of the Cairgon Ranges, and their northern neighbour, the halfling Kingdom of Cumemria. They are neutral with the Soutlandian Tsardom to their northwest, a relationship that remains cool due to Skylark's objections to the Tsardom's treatment of their non-human citizens and their support and recognition of the Cumemrian republic who separated from the Tsardom only a few human generations ago. Skylark remains in a state of perpetual war with the Hordes of Grirong to the east, fighting off incursions and taking back land in minor skirmishes every few years. While officially there is no diplomatic position with regards to the Timouthian Theocracy, the general opinion is that if their Priest-King is ever successful in pacifying the Orcs of Kuzg there will be a conflict with the Theocracy, and it's likely that Skylark is closely watching the situation on Leres' Western continent.

Skylark is fairly free of religious persecution, while there are cults that are actively banned it is due to the actions of the group as opposed to their beliefs. The beliefs of its native peoples are primarily focused on the Gods Tyr and Freya, with smaller followings of Baldur and Odin.
