Lab 2: Server 2019, ADDS and DNS - adaley0518/Tech_Journal GitHub Wiki

  • 9/2/19 Lab 2. The goal of this lab is to configure a 2019 windows server in a vm that provides a domain name and active directory services for the 10.0.5.0/24 network. Before starting this lab it is important to check that wks01 is able to ping a website using the default gateway (from the firewall). Using the 2019 windows server (or ad01), I had to connect to the host and network configuration which is exactly what I did in the first lab, so I had a good understanding of what to do here. After rebooting the computer, I had to check the network through Powershell. Once making sure everything connected to the internet, I began installing the ADDS roles through the Local Server Manager. After the installation of the ADDS, I had to configure the server to the primary domain controller. Next, I had to add a DNS record (talked further in the DNS topic). In the local server manager, I then had to create a named domain user on the ad01 workstation. One is an admin and the other being a non=privileged account. The final process to this lab is going back to wks01 and changing the DNS from 10.0.5.2 to 10.0.5.5 (connect to ad01's workstation). Then, test the connection through Powershell. Lastly, join wks01 to your new domain (amber.daley-adm).
