The Indian gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) is a large reptile. Native to Southern Asia.

With its long, spindly snout and beady eyes, this unique crocodilian is sure to make a splash in any zoo. Grotesque as it may be, the Indian gharial is a relatively docile croc that uses its special long snout to snatch up small fish as it lounges on riverbanks. Threatened by poaching, habitat destruction and overfishing, this peculiar pescatarian needs as much human help as it can get.

Spawning and taming

Indian gharials are a super rare spawn in fast fresh water. They spawn alone. Male and females are equally likely to spawn. Male gharials can be easily identified by their large size in comparison to females, and a larger nose.

The Indian gharial is a slow, defensive animal.

Keepers should be sure to bring a tranquilizer gun and darts if trying to capture a gharial. Indian gharials can only be caught in seine nets and capture cages.

Indian gharials can be tamed with piscivore kibble.

Care

Indian gharials have 21 hearts (42 points) of health, can deal 2 hearts (4 points) of damage, and drop 2 large meat and 6 leather upon death.

Indian gharials are large animals with high food needs. They eat a piscivore diet.

Indian gharials can use the beef ice treat, heat lamp, heat rock, and sprinkler enrichment items.

Indian gharials are a low fertility species, and can be bred with tropical fish. As large-sized animals they have a gestation time of 72000 ticks, and lay 4-5 eggs. Once hatched, baby gharials will take 6 minecraft days to reach adulthood.

Variants

Indian gharials have 5 natural variants: jig, treble, siwash, aberdeen, and kahle. These are in-game color variants, not real subspecies.
