Animation Preview (Experimental)

Getting Up Modding Tool can read BNM skeletal animation files and preview supported animations.

Experimental: Animation support is still under development and may not fully reproduce the game's animation system.

Compatible meshes

When a BNM animation is selected, the tool can identify meshes whose skeleton matches the animation.

The Animation Browser follows a three-step workflow:

  1. Choose the character / animation family
  2. Choose a BNM animation
  3. Choose a compatible mesh

The tool compares the animation tracks with available mesh skeletons and displays the best matching meshes.

The main areas are:

  1. Character / family list
  2. Animation list
  3. Compatible mesh list
  4. Search
  5. Find meshes
  6. Load automatically / Load selected mesh
  7. Diagnostics / advanced validation tools

Note: The best match is normally displayed near the top of the compatible mesh list.

Animation controls

After loading a compatible mesh, the animation can be previewed directly in the 3D Viewer.

The main animation controls are:

  1. Animation name / current frame / duration
  2. Animation & display panel
  3. Play / Pause / Stop
  4. Playback speed and Loop
  5. Mesh / Skeleton / Skinning / Root motion toggles
  6. Timeline
  7. 3D animated preview

The timeline at the bottom can be used to inspect the animation during playback.

Layered animations

Getting Up uses layered or partial-body animations.

Some clips, including certain L_TR_* animations, affect only part of the body.

Because the complete game animation blending system is not yet reproduced, unaffected parts of the model may remain in their bind pose.

Note: This does not necessarily mean the BNM file is broken.

Facial animation

MeshAnim_* facial animation clips can be detected, but they are not currently played by the viewer.

Unsupported variants

Some unusual BNM variants are still unsupported.

If an animation does not load or behaves unexpectedly, it may use a variant that is not yet handled by the tool.

Export limitation

Mesh exports use the default bind pose.

The animation currently displayed in the viewer is not exported with the mesh.

Important: Exporting a model while an animation is playing does not export the current animated pose or animation clip.
