Troubleshooting

The phone does not appear

• Check that USB debugging is on and the cable carries data (some cables only charge).
• If the sidebar says "CONFERMA SUL TELEFONO" (confirm on the phone), unlock the phone and tap Allow on the USB debugging prompt.
• Another program using its own adb (Android Studio, phone suites) can conflict. Close it and reconnect.

Songs are sent again, or appear twice

Xaos recognises songs by title, artist and duration (see Syncing with the phone). If a song is proposed again, its tags on the two devices are probably very different: fix them with MODIFICA INFO on the PC and send the corrected file.

Duplicate files on the PC are listed in IMPOSTAZIONI > DOPPIONI.

Downloads fail with "403 Forbidden"

The desktop app updates yt-dlp and retries by itself. If it keeps failing, wait a day (YouTube sometimes blocks for a while) or check that the PC is online, since the update needs the internet.

No sound, or "MOTORE AUDIO NON TROVATO"

The engine (VLC) is part of the installer. Reinstall Xaos. If you use an external sound card, check the output in IMPOSTAZIONI > USCITA AUDIO.

Favorites or playlists did not sync

• The phone app must be 1.3.0 or later: the TELEFONO screen offers the update.
• Press SINCRONIZZA ORA on the TELEFONO screen. If it says something changed on the phone at that moment, just press it again.

The installer says Xaos is open

Close Xaos (also the mini player) and press OK.

Updating from version 1.2 or older

Versions up to 1.3 used a different installer. The new one removes the old version by itself; if it cannot, uninstall Xaos from Settings > Apps and run the installer again. Your data in %USERPROFILE%\.xaos is kept.

Open an issue. For startup problems, attach %USERPROFILE%\.xaos\startup.log.
