Lesson 8 - Water-Monitor/IoT-Portfolio-FJS GitHub Wiki

This lesson we worked on:

Reflection Stijn

During the LED-strip workshop from the teacher, I had no concentration. I was stressed and did not really process it. When we started with the User Story I got excited again to come up with cool ideas and implement them. I wanted to take a shower that goes off after a certain time and was really excited about my idea. I did not know how to work with the LED strip since I did not really pay attention during the morning session, but with the little bit of attention that I had given and the wiring photos that Johanna took, I was able to make it work at the end. I am really happy and proud of myself that I made it work.

I also tried to make the Relay work, but it did not work. After messing with it, I decided that the LED strip was a better sensor to start with, so I could have something at the end at least. Later I heard from Johanna that you should not use Relay, but Relais.

The ideas in my head were way too big. I also expected to have a full day, instead of half a school day to work on the project. In the end, I only made the LED work and reused Johanna's water pump. It would have been nice to have a little bit more time for the project and try to incorporate as much hardware as possible. The LED strip is actually a lot of fun. On the node-red part, it gets complicated, but it is still doable and I really enjoyed it. I do not like time stress and therefore I reacted a little bit too emotionally in the lesson because things did not work out how I wanted them to work out. Besides that also other deadlines for other subjects are way earlier than I thought.

Reflection Johanna

Everything worked out quite well for me! It was also the first time, where I managed to work on my own without (almost) no help from anyone else. Building the relay was the only tricky thing for me, but I managed it. I am also very happy, that we got to see, how the LEDs are working and I am kinda eager to get my own LEDs now and program something funny with them.

Reflection Fadi

During this lesson we worked independently, I built a water scale. Here I took out what we learned during the course and worked more independently. Challenges arose of course with connecting the cables with the help of colleagues, so I managed to arrive at a completed product, a water scale with a display that shows the weight of the scale. It was very interesting to work with this and I liked it very much.
