Lesson 2 - Water-Monitor/IoT-Portfolio-FJS GitHub Wiki

This lesson we worked on:

Reflection Stijn

  • The architecture gives some insight for me, but the drawing was hard to make by myself for me and the one the teacher created was a total mess. If I did not have the knowledge from my study of Software Engineering, I would have been totally lost on this. I think explaining it with a good drawing could actually help a lot. Or maybe first explain some things that we are directly going to use, for example, the Gateway, server, the sensors, WIFI, the Internet, and things. Later in this course, when those things are realized, then hopefully people have processed those things and they are ready for the next things like Edge Computing, Fog Computing, and Swarm.
  • The story was nice to make, it feels extremely similar to Software User Stories or Media User Stories, but slightly differently focused.
  • This lesson felt like just performing the steps that were written down. It gives some insight into how you can do it, so I think it's really nice to have done so if I have to do it ever you have some experience. At that moment itself, it felt like a waste of time and as something that could have been automated with just one button that will perform all those manual steps.

Reflection Fadi

Architecture and Terminology of IoT

This was an interesting topic, where we learned diffrent importaant topics in the architecture and Terminology of IoT, like the internet, cloud, servers etc and what the do. I know a bit and other where new to me.

Piching and story

This part I really liked and will benefit me alot in the future, I worked with Maltie and we built a story which I really liked.

Reflection of Johanna

  • Back in my first semester, we had to learn how informations get sent via the internet with servers, ip adresses etc. As one might noticed, I can barely remember a thing of it, however the graph that the teacher showed us today including the cloud, edge-, fog computing and more, reminded me a lot of it. Though I am still not quite sure, what fog and edge computing really is know. A kahoot!-test to round up the topic at the end of the lesson would have been fun and might have helped remembering these kinds of terms.
  • I am not a biiiig fan of writing storys, so I am kinda glad that Stijn and I managed to write a quite pleasant one. Our story was a bit too long tough. Was as well a nice entry.
  • I was frustrated with the rebooting part, but there is noone to blame that it took us sooo many attemps with setting up the laptop. However, it might have been nice to know, that the DELL laptops were a bit "special" in terms of 'using-wifi'.
