Enemy User Testing - UQdeco2800/2022-studio-3 GitHub Wiki
Introduction
Enemy entities are AI entities that a game player cannot directly interact with, as such this user testing was done to gauge the opinions of the sprite/animation designs, and comments on the behaviour of the enemies.
User testing Plan
The users were presented with a design document (here) and a Google form (here) where they rate the designs on a linear scale of 1 - 5, where 1 means they did not like the designs and 5 means they liked it.
Results
Snake
From the feedback it appears that snake sprite design was generally viewed in a positive light however results for the animations were more mixed. the attacks didn't appear forceful and movement animations can be smoother.
Titan
From the feedback is appears that titan wasn't as well received, although the design and animations were simple and consistent it doesn't look intimidating and sometimes comical look comical.
Wolf
From the feedback is appears that the wolf sprite design was positively received and felt intimidating but sprite animation ratings were spread out evenly b/w rankings 2-5, the walking animations looked like it was moving backwards, although the idea of snake tail attacking looked nice, it didn't seem forceful enough.
Improvments
From the feedback the following improvements can be made:
- Redesigning titan sprite (still keeping the floating movement) to look more intimidating and making a better attack animation.
- Improving the attack animation of the wolf, making it more forceful and fixing the movement animations of the wolf.
- Improving snake movement animations.
