Sprint 4: Tough Long Range Enemy - UQdeco2800/2021-studio-6 GitHub Wiki

Tough Long Range enemy was redesigned during Sprint 4. The design was too complex to easily animate and modify to produce perspective from the four directions. Previous Design

Description

The functionality of the enemy is unchanged. It is a durable ranged enemy, intended to challenge the player to discover it's attack patterns and defeat it for a larger reward or ignore it to preserve health and resources.

The inspiration for the design comes mostly from the name and the previous design. The previous design was an insectoid with features resembling antlers/antlion, and the enemy in game fires projectiles in a fan formation at the player. Switching the projectile to spikes to create diversity between the long range enemy(eyeball), bone like materials were used as decorative body parts for the design in the form of spikes, tusks, and claws. The body of the enemy is covered in scales to appear resistant to attacks which is also reflected by it's large health amount.

Appearance

Tough Long Range enemy (nickname antlion) is a large creature with hard scales on it's back and insectoid head and limbs. It shares the green skin colour with the slug and have a large sac on the back of its head. To make it appear menacing, it has horns and tusks on the head, and the outer limbs of its legs are large claws.

Large enemies have a clear visual change in appearance. The antlion will lose it's left leg, and the tusks and its back will have a large wound.

For the glowing effect when its in the dark, the large purple sac and its larger main eyes will glow.

Once defeated, the it'll have a corpse sprite covered in its blood.
