Story
Prologue
In the near future, “shadow crawlers” roam the night and darkness, where their insatiable desire for death ends civilization as we know it. Light is their only known weakness, a resource that is rapidly dwindling, allowing the darkness to expand. The few humans who survive are trapped in cities that are lit up. As time passes, these cities fail from a lack of resources to keep the lights lit. People must find a way to safety or die. Since the apocalypse people have seen a powerful light glow in the horizon. People tired of the camps leave towards the promise that at the glow, there is a safe haven. Some call these runners ‘fireflies’.
Main story
You are a survivor in a camp which is beginning to fall due to a lack of resources. And so, you begin your journey towards the safe haven, taking shelter at the safe houses scattered across the lands built by previous fireflies. It’s bare and basic, but it keeps you safe at night as long as you have light. You must gather food and materials to survive and to improve yourself at the safe houses to survive your journey to the city of light.
On your journey there are creatures of the night prowling but weakened by the light. Defeat them to gain special material to build stronger upgrades at your own risk. You can avoid them with luck and swift decisions, but the rewards will significantly increase your chance of success.
Epilogue
You reach the port where you can see a large glowing light shining from a distant island. There’s a big boat which is ready to leave, and you board. However, after boarding, you discover that the darkness has been created by a single being “EVIL NAME” who has been taking the light for their home (is it a distant planet or is it the haven ??). You end up fighting the light-thief and (hopefully) defeat them and safely travel to the safe haven. FIN
[If we run out of development time...] Just reach the safe haven. No boss.
