Description
The enemies are the opponent characters of the player in the game, which include their movement, attacks, and behaviours in the game. There are four different basic types of enemies in this game. They are: Large enemy, small enemy, long range enemy and short range enemy. Here are links to each of them below:
Final boss: this enemy feature is designed as a final boss at the final level of the game for players to defeat and win the game. Currently the idea of the final boss is a 'shadow' boss who stele the light, and the final boss will be combined with other enemies' features.
Methods
the methods for enemies graphic design will be using Photoshop, Illustration, Pisckel and Aseprite. Pisckel and Aseprite will be mainly using for making animations and sprite-sheets. the methods for enemies programming, will be using JDK software and GitHub. GitHub will be mainly using for collecting and using data and merging everything into the studio project.
Art-Style
All enemies will be pixel art. There are three different sizes of the basic enemies:
- 64x64 (large enemy),
- 32x32 (long/short range enemies),
- 24x24 (small enemy).
In the first iteration, enemy art styles was inspired by 'Game Inspiration' documentation, based on that, we decided to make the enemies more zombie-like in terms of delivering a sense of horror/mysterious. Therefore, the enemies were primarily using dark green and red colour to describe the characteristics.
According to the background story has been finalised, the design direction will be moving to 'darkness mother born children' who against light/Lord, remain the feeling of unknow/mysterious but not that scary. Therefore, the large enemy will be re-designed to fit in the story, and the short-range enemy is re-concept to be a tough-range enemy which can have multiple shooting directions.
