Background and Goals
The user testing for the inventory system mainly aims to verify the design of the UI layout is easy to use. Follow-up improvement with improvement according to the test result.
Test Design
User
The targeting audience for this testing is students in this studio and some well-experienced players in a variety of games. As a foundation feature in this game, they can provide information of convenience and accessibility for further improvement.
Sessions
The survey was performed via zoom meeting and face-to-face communication.
Methodology
Participants will be notified of different functional zones and asked to comment on the UI layout from the following perspectives:
- Rationality of zoning
- Convenience of layout for players to understand
- Problems encounter when having experience in operating an inventory system with a similar layout.
- Or potential problems with the current layout
Outcomes
A total of 7 participants were invited to perform user test, comments worth taking note of list are as follow:
- Functional zones are clearly identified but the buff indicator should be a part of HUD instead inventory system.
- The Quick slot has more than 10 slots, if there are plans to apply hotkey in future, difficulty may occur when choosing hotkey.
