Heat Vents - TinyModularThings/IC2Classic GitHub Wiki
Nuclear Reactors get hot. That heat has to go somewhere. Heat Vents dissipate the heat generated by Fuel Cells.
Heat Vents come in four variants, and three types.
Standard Heat Vents
Heat Vents can each store up to 1000 heat, and every reactor tick, dissipate a fixed amount of their stored heat. Heat Vents absorb heat from surrounding components, and some also extract heat from the Reactor hull.
- Heat Vent: Dissipates 6 heat from itself per tick
- Reactor Heat Vent: Extracts 5 heat from the reactor hull per tick, and dissipates 5 heat from itself per tick.
- Overclocked Heat Vent: Extracts 36 heat from the reactor hull per tick, but dissipates 20 heat from itself per tick. If not supported by other vents, this vent can overheat and melt itself.
- Advanced Heat Vent: Dissipates 12 heat from itself per tick
There is also a special vent called the Component Heat Vent. The Component Heat Vent does not absorb or store heat. In stead, it dissipates 4 heat from each other component adjacent to it.
Electric Heat Vents
Electric Heat Vents absorb and dissipate twice as much heat as standard Vents, however they also consume 0.005EU/t for each point of Heat they can dissipate. This EU is subtracted from the Reactor's normal output. Electric Heat Vents can also store up to 10,000 heat each.
Electric Heat Vents are only fully active when the Reactor itself is active (receiving a Redstone signal, ticking Fuel Cells). When the Reactor is not active, they will work at half power (like regular Heat Vents).
- Electric Heat Vent: Dissipates 12 heat from itself per tick, at the cost of 0.06EU/t
- Electric Reactor Heat Vent: Extracts 10 heat from the reactor hull, and dissipates 10 heat from itself per tick, at the cost of 0.05EU/t
- Electric Overclocked Heat Vent: Extracts 72 heat from the reactor hull, and dissipates 40 heat from itself per tick, at the cost of 0.2 EU/t
- Electric Advanced Heat Vent: Dissipates 24 heat from itself per tick, at the cost of 0.12EU/t
Steam Vents
see also: Steam Reactor
Because Steam Vents convert Heat into Steam, they have much more complex mechanics than normal vents. Steam Vents convert heat and Water into Steam at a ratio of 40 heat : 1mB Water : 160 Steam. However, the conversion speed is not a constant; Steam Vents consume heat and produce Steam at a rate proportional to the amount of heat they contain. This scales linearly, with Vents dissipating at 100% speed when they reach 90% heat capacity. All Steam Vents can store up to 1100 heat. Steam Vents draw their Water from their Reactor's internal Water tank, and emit Steam into their Reactor's Steam tank.
- Steam Vent: Dissipates up to 6 heat from itself to generate up to 24 Steam per tick. Stores up to 6mB Water.
- Reactor Steam Vent: Extracts 5 heat from the reactor hull, and dissipates up to 5 heat from itself per tick, to generate up to 20 Steam per tick. Stores up to 5mB Water.
- Overclocked Steam Vent: Extracts 36 heat from the reactor hull, and dissipates up to 20 heat from itself per tick, to generate up to 80 Steam per tick. Stores up to 20mB Water.
- Advanced Steam Vent: Dissipates up to 12 heat from itself per tick to generate up to 48 Steam per tick. Stores up to 12mB Water.
If a Steam Vent does not contain water, it will cool itself very slowly (-1 heat every 40 ticks).
