Start Server Manager, go to local server and assign the Ip Address, netmask, gateway, and DNS. If prompted to be discoverable select yes.
Change Computer name to ad01-tanner
Next select the manage menu and select "Add Roles and Features"
When prompted for server roles select "Active Directory Domain Services"
When promoting this server to a domain controller add a new forest named "tanner.local"
After reboot go to the DNS manager, go to tanner.local and create a "New Host(A or AAAA) enter "fw01.tanner" at 10.0.5.2
Select Reverse Lookup Zones and create a new zone. Create it for 10.0.5
To update the PTR go back to the host that was just made and uncheck and recheck update associated pointer.
Exit the DNS manager and go to the AD DS and select "Active Directory Users and Computers"
Create two users. The first should be tanner.weinacker-adm, once this is created right click and select "add to a group" and add it to "Domain Admins"
For the second user just create tanner.weinacker

In this section we assigned the Ip address, gateway, netmask, and DNS. That was the initial part for this to work. We needed to do this so that we could fully configure the ADDS to work with the other systems.
