- Forest: This is a logical structure that is a collection of domains included with configuration and schema naming contexts, and application partitions.
- Schema naming contexts: This contains the objects that describe how data can be structures and stored in Active Directory.
- Application Partitions: Partitions that can be rooted anywhere in the forest.
- Reverse Lookup Zone: This is used to resolve IP addresses to a hostname. This is so that you do not have to just lookup the IP address. After configuring this you should be able to ping both the IP and the Hostname and get the same result.
- PTR(Pointer Record): This provides the mapping of the Ip address to the hostname for the Reverse lookup zones.
