Welcome to the Trapped in Tucson wiki!

Trapped in Tucson was inspired by the Dungeon 2023 challenge. I've been wanting to try my hand at a longer form interactive fiction game and #dungeon23 gave me an excuse.

I didn't really want to make a dungeon crawler (though I do love a good dungeon crawler as much as anyone and have ever since I got a copy of Telengard for my Atari 800 way back in the early 80s), so I decided to tell a story that has been in the back of my mind: What would Tucson, Arizona look like in the future if we keep on the same path we've been following so far? Would people still be able to live here when temperatures are above 100° F all summer long and there is no water coming from the Colorado River or would the city be a ghost town, like the abandoned mining towns in the Arizona desert? If you, as the player of the game, were suddenly trapped in a largely empty city could you deal with the climatic conditions? Could you survive? Would you find hardy survivors holding on in spite of the odds?

To me this really sounded like a story worth telling that could make for a compelling game. And, thus, Trapped in Tucson was born.

I documented the design decisions I made in the process of creating the game in the Developer Diary.

Because I want this game to be based in sound science, I've also collected my sources and background data on the Research page.

The game attempts to explore concepts related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The latest version of the game will always be available on the Trapped in Tucson Git Page.

I hope you enjoy the adventure. Please give me feedback at [email protected].
