Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF Award#1726524), the University of Michigan - Dearborn has acquired a humanoid robot, which we named R2ED (Robot for Research and Education at Dearborn). The goal of the project and this repository is to support research and education initiatives within our institution and provide resources to the broader robotics community. The torso is configured with arms and hands from Schunk and an omnidirectional mobile platform from Clearpath Robotics.

This repository includes a Gazebo model and simulation of R2ED, which we are making available to the broader robotics community. It can be seen in this Gazebo video. A short video of using the software to run the simulated robot in Gazebo and Rviz showing how to send commands and use MoveIt! in Rviz.

The NSF award involves a large number of faculty and student investigators. This repository was developed by students Bruce Blum and Aaron Cofield, advised by Prof. Samir Rawashdeh.
