Overview

Columbia is the most recent nation to come from Rapture out of a long strand of nations split into separate eras within McAtlas history. Technically, it is the second oldest nation in the Americas to still exist, right behind California. This nation and all before it were founded by Mobcontrol. To some, he is an Eternal Dictator, the Benevolent ruler, founder of the Mcatlas Theory of Economics. To others, he is a friend.

History

The Revolution Era [July 2019 - October 2019]

Info: The nation was founded back in Rapture in early August 2019 because of the influx of gold collected from it’s transportation and delivery businesses. It became a nation to ensure autonomy as a state and expand international influence instead of being known as an independent company. The process of nationmaking did not have much influence over existing inhabitants. Deadwood was involved in some of the first wars on the server, either indirectly (Canadian / China war) or almost directly (The Sumarian War).

The Revival Era [January 2020 - February 26th, 2020]

Info: The people who founded the first nation and Rapture come back in January 2020 and quickly restarted the operation with intent to expand. It was not long till Rapture’s comeback would become somewhat mainstream and allow the nation to quickly rise the ranks in the server’s UN. Rapture’s econimic growth forced the nation to begin industrialization and subtle expansion to allow coverage and supply for their customers. That led to the towns Buford, founded by RealRitzCracker, and Vanderbilt, founded by Paytonian556, to be made with intent in helping the nation with supply for their deliveries and goods to sell. After that came the purchase of Kyiv to be an Asian corporate HQ, led by TheMuricanEagle. The nation, with plans of expansion, then brought in Lithuania, owned by CharlesApples, and Manchester, owned by Splayblowfish.

The Nationalization Era [February 27th - April 2nd, 2020]

Info: With the new update on nation expansion and borders coming out, it was no longer possible to merge nations. Yellowstone Corp quickly lost its territories in Europe (Kyiv, Lithuana, Manchester) as the update’s first victims. With such a loss, the nation and its previous members from across the seas decide to create a plan of Nationalization. Quickly, the nation and its inhabitants voted to allow Dictatorship to rule the nation till it was no longer necessary and when the America’s are finally united and not ruled by the Canadians - creating the American Reign, led by Mobcontrol, the previous the CEO, and his advisors. They were tasked with the ultimate plan to create a true American rule in the US. Expansionism of the nation was its first mission. Within a few days of nationalization, the towns Vault, Kaiserville, and Washington D.C were created. After what seemed like days of expansion and militarization of the nation, the people of the nation and its dictator were satisfied with their progress. They had re-established themselves as an oligarchic state, and renamed themselves to the American Union State. The nation installed a new military program which allowed it to draft town owners into its military when needed.

When the nation’s military was created, they were almost instantly invited over to join the Interterrum by Hekkins of Pacifica/Scotland as one of its first members. It made the second biggest military in the alliance, only behind the HRE.

A few days after the nation joined the Interterrum, the group went into its first war against Brazil. The first war and second war of Brazil are the most controversial wars on the server to this day, since people cannot decide who has won, with each side claiming the victory for themselves. With the war over, AUS became the second most powerful nation and second largest nation in the Americas, right behind the United States.

The Republic Era [April 3rd, 2020 - May 6th 2020]

Info: With the conflicts fading away and the allies falling, The American Union decided it needed reform. This lead to the creation of Columbia, a nation that follows what is similar to Roman Republicanism. Towns would be referred to as States, and held spots in the Congress. The reformed nation of Columbia relies on diplomacy over war to forge alliances.

The First Congress decided upon isolation to help in expansion and progression, without having to deal with international affairs. The Second Congress created an awareness chart for town ruins, a State Flag Museum in Bi-Cities, National and State parks and established a military of town owners. The First Emergency Congress lessened Columbia's isolationistic policies. The Third National Congress established the Souther Road and National Farm programs and declared victory in a war with New Zealand. Finally, the Fourth National Congress adressed the fall of Jaunvill, Vanderbilt and Spokane and declared a Goverment Reform. This reform will cause the nation to turn into a Corporate-Representative Republic, ending the Republic Era.
