The aux module

This module contains a few auxiliary methods.

It would be good to migrate here as many private from mugui as possible. These methods are often private to those mugui methods that correspond to a tab. This is motivated by the direct reference they make to variables in the scope of that specific method. But it is not good programming practice, it requires a refactoring.
