Welcome to the NOW Wiki!!

NOW stands for "Novel Online World" and is the prototype for future text based worlds. The framework uses Evennia as the server. It will allow for a world that is in some ways simpler than FurryMUCK, meaning you can sit in one channel and chat OOCly as a player, yet allow you to pursue your own story ICly with one or more characters. You may choose a story that might be very MUD-like - your character versus mobs, puzzles, and/or the environment… or MUSH-like, with RP, success rolls or scenes with characters. Enjoy what you would like, and do not get lost or stuck, let your player decide what activities are to be pursued.

This was chosen due to its current development and usage of a more common object oriented languages that has a fairly active community. Why? Because FurryMUCK's development has halted - for all practical purposes. See Museum Analogy

Planned Features of NOW

• Provide familiar set of commands
• Provide an area to get comfortable with NOW for folks that are not yet ready to dive in to all possibilities.

'The Past' is intended as an easy area to explore and get acquainted with the interface and interact quickly with others.

• Unlocking gateways through keys to the reach the various realms of NOW
• A three dimensional (3D) simplification for "warp" movement within a 4✕4✕8 "master" grid of rooms. Like SpinDizzy's grid. This is intended more as a way to get to location quickly that have already been discovered rather than present a pre-built logical landscape
• Flags system is extensible, not limited to the one alphabet letter, but any single word.
• Encourage player base to learn of code and offer ways to improve NOW
• End of Summer event similar to the winter event

Back-burner Ideas

• Being able to tag anything in the virtual world, much like you do with image sharing sites.
• Achievement System - awards based, encourages learning new things and regular usage and improvement by and for players.
• As rooms are maintained and updated they are promoted to the NOW, if desired.
• Primarily a Resource Based Economy with a monetary "helper" system.
• Build and develop customizable homes
