Why creating a backup is important - Phil1988/FreeDi GitHub Wiki
There is a lot of hardware variation in the x3-series printers.
It is almost impossible to give a complete matching config for your unique hardware combination.
This is why you need to make a backup of your exact system first, so you can always get the necessary information for your system.
Here is the background information:
Qidi has released multiple batches of "same but different" printers, resulting in variations that may not be immediately apparent.
They are continuously improving their printers, which is fantastic!
However, they do not assign new version numbers to printers with hardware updates.
For instance:
- The first batch had differences in mechanics, print bed and probe (and more).
- Later batches saw updates to the toolhead or stepper drivers.
- There are different mainboards labeled as "X-4 V1.0" and "X-6 V1.0".
- Even the mainboards labeled "X-6 V1.0" vary between units.
- And definetly more that I dont know yet or they might change in the future.
To illustrate, here are differences between two "X-6 V1.0" mainboards.
You can find more details in this GitHub issue.
