Input Shaping - Phil1988/FreeDi GitHub Wiki
Calibrating Input Shaping is mandatory to reduce vibrations and improve print quality, especially at higher speeds.
Methods to Perform Input Shaping Calibration
There are 3 ways to calibrate Input Shaping:
1. Using the Display Menu
Follow these steps:
-
Go to "Gear Icon" -> Advanced -> Next Page -> Click on "Input Shaping".
-
The printer will home and perform the Input Shaping calibration.
Please wait until the process is finished. Currently, there is no visual feedback on the display when the process is completed, as I am still figuring out how to handle this end event.
Once the Input Shaping is complete, the measured shaper settings for the X and Y axes will be saved in the auto-generated section at the end of the printer.cfg
file. It will look similar to this:
2. Using the Console in Mainsail
Alternatively, you can initiate the Input Shaping calibration from the Console by entering the following command:
INPUT_SHAPING_CALIBRATE
3. Using a Macro in Mainsail
You can also start the Input Shaping calibration by using the "INPUT SHAPING CALIBRATE" macro in Mainsail. The process is the same as the previous method.
By following one of these methods, you can successfully calibrate Input Shaping for your printer, improving the overall print quality and reducing artifacts caused by vibrations.
