Speed in Tuxborn - Omni-guides/Tuxborn GitHub Wiki

This page is an overview of how to boost your speed in Tuxborn, whether to make you faster in combat, or to aid your escape when committing crimes for the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood.

Armor

Artificer set buffs

  • Artificer gives you a 20% speed boost while sneaking if you wear the entire set of Thieves Guild Guildmaster armor

Boots

  • A pair of boots you can receive as a quest reward for running Fortune's Tradehouse will give you a 50% speed boost
  • Miraak's Boots, from running Dragonborn, give a 10% speed boost
  • The Nightingale Boots give a 10% speed boost (along with a 50% Muffle). Not useful for speed increases early in a Thieves Guild run, but it certainly can't hurt once you're to that point!
  • Curate's Boots (from the set of armor normally worn by Vyrthur in the Forgotten Vale but also available via Carved Brink) will give you a 10% speed boost
  • Cicero's Boots from the Dark Brotherhood will give you a 10% speed boost
  • Ahzidal's Boots of Momentum will boost your movement speed by 20% if you have a spell or staff equipped
  • Movarth's Boots will give you a 10% speed boost
  • The Predator's Grace boots, available near the exit point from Hag's End, give a 10% speed boost (and 50% less damage from falling)

Black Books

Artificer edits the Black Books on Solstheim. If you run the Sallow Regent book (the one in White Ridge Barrow), and you take the Seeker of Swiftness reward from it, you will get a 10% speed boost.

Enchantments

Tuxborn's load order does not include any known generic Fortify Speed enchantments. While Fortify Speed is an effect available via Apothecary for potions, there is not an equivalent enchantment in Thaumaturgy.

As of this writing, none of the enchanted items known to fortify speed are known to be disenchantable, either.

Jewelry

Kyne's Token

In our load order, this amulet, available as a reward for running the quest Kyne's Sacred Trials, gives a 10% speed boost.

Locket of Reflexes

This is a necklace that gives you a 15% boost to melee attack speed. It is available as a quest reward for the side quest Proving Strength in the Midwood Isle mod.

Ring of Khajiit

The Ring of Khajiit gives you a 10% speed boost, and also allows you to cast the spell Hide, which is a shorter duration Invisibility spell.

This ring can be acquired by running the Fishing quest Spirits Away, which asks you to recover some lost bottles of flin for Ri'saad. This quest is fairly far in on the Viriya branch of the Fishing quests. So unless you speed-run that set of quests early on, this is probably not an option for a speed boost early in the game.

‼️ Note: this ring should not be confused with the Ring of Khajiiti, available via the Meridia's Order mod. While Meridia's Order's ring cites this one as an inspiration, they do not have the same enchantment. And the Meridia's Order mod does not give you a speed boost or any ability to cast invisibility. ‼️

Ring of the Wind

This item is one of the things in our load order where different mods have different versions of the same thing. In this case, The Tools of Kagrenac has a version of this ring which takes precedence over the ones provided by both Legacy of the Dragonborn and the Anniversary Edition content.

The enchantment on the Tools version of this ring gradually increases movement speed by up to 50% while running, sprinting, or swimming.

However, since this ring is only available in our load order via The Tools of Kagrenac, this means it's not a viable option for early in your playthrough. Tools of Kagrenac requires you to finish the entire College of Winterhold plotline so that you have access to the Arniel's Endeavor side quests.

Severin Family Ring

Artificer adds this in as a reward you can get for running the assassination plot in Raven Rock on Solstheim. It will give you a 10% attack speed boost.

Silver-Blood Family Ring

This item, one of the possible rewards from running No One Escapes Cidhna Mine, includes a 10% boost to your attack speed.

Lycanthropy

If you are a werewolf, there are two known ways that this will boost your speed, thanks to the Growl mod:

  • In beast form in general, you'll be 15% faster
  • If you acquire the Lycanthropic Speed perk, this will make you 10% faster both in and out of beast form

Perks

The Infiltrator perk on the Sneak tree gives you a 25% speed boost while you're sneaking.

These perks are relevant from the Light Armor tree:

  • Athletics (40/90): You move 10/20% faster when wearing three pieces of light armor.
  • Adrenaline (60): You move 20% faster when sprinting while wearing three pieces of light armor.

The Hand to Hand tree has a Light Feet perk with two tiers:

  • Light Feet (20/70): You move 10/20% faster while unarmed.

Potions

Apothecary adds "Fortify Speed" as an option for potions. Recipes for this are included in the table on the Alchemy recipes in Tuxborn page.

If you're running Xelzaz as a follower, and you fulfill the initial "A Lawman's Ambition" quest, you can ask him to make custom potions for you. One of these is his Potion of Windform. His mod page on Nexus describes the Windform potion like so:

Take on the form of the wind. Granting you a speed boost, the power of waterwalking and the chance to fling away nearby enemies for 1 minute.

Racial bonuses

Depending on which character race you're playing, you can get a natural speed bonus via the Mannaz mod. Relevant bonuses include:

  • Argonians swim 50% faster, which could be useful if you need to escape angry guards in a hurry and you're near a body of water
  • Khajiit movement speed is 20% faster
  • Nords get an additional passive effect when using the All-Maker Stones on Solstheim, and one of the available passives is a 10% speed boost
  • Redguards can sprint 30% faster, for a cost of 5 less Stamina

Shouts

Stormcrown changes the Elemental Fury Shout to make you generally faster in combat, depending on how many words of it you know:

  • Su: Move and attack 10% faster for 30 seconds
  • Grah: Move and attack 15% faster for 30 seconds
  • Dun: Move and attack 20% faster for 30 seconds

Spells

Apocalypse

Apocalypse includes a Longstride spell, which is a Novice-level Alteration spell. This spell grants you, while concentrating, a 20% movement speed boost and +25 to carry weight. The effect is tripled when out of combat.

Mysticism

Mysticism includes two spells of interest:

  • Windwalker, an Apprentice-level Alteration spell, which boosts your speed by 10% for 120 seconds
  • Windrunner, an Expert-level Alteration spell, which boosts your speed by 20% for 120 seconds

Standing Stones

Freyr, the Standing Stones overhaul we're running, allows for the following Stone perks depending on which race you choose to play:

  • Altmer:
    • The Shadow Stone will allow you to sneak 15% faster
  • Argonians:
    • The Steed Stone will give you an additional 100% speed boost while swimming
  • Bosmer:
    • The Steed Stone will allow you to move 10% faster while outdoors
  • Bretons:
    • The Shadow Stone will allow you to move 20% faster while wielding a drawn bow
    • The Steed Stone will boost the speed of your horse by 25%
  • Dunmer:
    • The Steed Stone will add a 10% speed boost to the other abilities granted you by the Fireblood passive granted by Mannaz
  • Khajiit:
    • The Apprentice Stone will give you an additional 10% speed boost on top of the racial passive boost from Mannaz
    • The Shadow Stone will let you sneak 10% faster and make you 40% harder to detect, but at a cost of 5 Magicka per second
    • The Steed Stone will let you enter sneak while sprinting, sneaking 15% faster but becoming 30% easier to detect
  • Nords:
    • The Steed Stone will make you 15% faster while you cast the Rage ability from Mannaz
  • Orcs:
    • The Shadow Stone will make you 10% faster in combat

Vampirism

If you decide to be a vampire in Tuxborn, the following will apply to you, thanks to our running Sacrilege:

  • You'll get a 10% boost in movement speed from the Unnatural Strength effect
  • If you are a Vampire Lord specifically, the Supernatural Reflexes power will slow time for you for 10 seconds, making your attacks faster for the duration

Weapons

Bow of Obfuscation

This is the bow you'll get in our load order when running the AE quest In the Shadows. Normally this would be the Bow of Shadows, but the bow got renamed by Legacy of the Dragonborn, as noted elsewhere on this wiki.

Its enchantment remains the same, however. Its use for speed purposes is limited only to how fast you can draw and fire it, as it boosts your weapon draw speed by 20%. So that can be useful in stealth combat.

Bow of Shadows

This is not a viable early game option, as you will only get the Bow of Shadows as a quest reward for completing the Shattered Legacy quest in Legacy of the Dragonborn. But once you do have the Bow of Shadows, drawing it will let you move twice as fast for 30 seconds. So it's good for a short-term speed boost.
