Vocab. EDI - OHDSI/Vocabulary-v5.0 GitHub Wiki

EDI

EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is a code system for the reimbursement or claim data in South Korea. EDI maps to standard reference terminologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm. EDI updates the dictionary on a monthly basis.

OMOP implementation of EDI vocabulary is curated by Seng Chan You and Yiju Park. More detailed information about the EDI is available from the publication in Healthcare Informatics Research by Yeonchan Seong et all.

Transformation

The procedures for transforming Concepts from the source to the OMOP Standard Vocabularies can be found on the OHDSI GitHub.

Domains

The EDI concepts have separate vocabularies for drugs, devices, and medical services. These three domains have no unified system in the EDI vocabulary. A complete list of valid EDI codes in each of these three domains is independently released with a description every month.

Medical services are too broad for the OHDSI Standard Vocabularies, so we subclassified them into procedure and measurement to match the OHDSI domains. Since the three domains are independent, there might be cases where EDI codes overlap. In such instances, we typically prioritize procedures and measurements for loading.
