MeCO: Insides |
Given that MeCO's internal structure consists of 3 tubes of varying diameters, we had to create custom housing platforms for each tube size. We had to design a compact skeleton structure for the side tubes, and a large and rigid structure for the center tube. The internal structures for both consist of a long 1/4” MDF board held in the center of the tube by rings of MDF that rest on the inside of the tube. The whole structure is supported by threaded rods that run halfway down the board and connect to standoffs attached to the flange. The entire board is covered with small slots designed to hold 3D-printed parts that snap into place and hold electronics.
Center Tube Layout
Center Tube Skeleton
To build MeCO we recommend starting with the 6.5" tube skeleton first as this will act as a platform to fix in the rest of the parts.

Side Tube Layout
Since both the side tubes have the same functionality, their layouts are identical.
Side Tube Skeleton
To build the side tubes we recommend starting with the 4.5" tube skeleton first as this will act as a platform to fix the rest of the parts.
