Traits

A character's abilities are based on one of four Traits. As with States, each Trait corresponds to a suit of cards.

  • Muscle (Spades): punching, lifting, breaking things
  • Brains (Clubs): organizing, knowing stuff
  • Heart (Hearts): charming, intimidating
  • Balance (Diamonds): negotiating, dodging

At character creation, a modifier is assigned to each Trait. The modifier can go as low as -2 (worst) to +2 (best).

(Randomized modifiers? 1d5-3)

(Straight one-for-one swap? Taking -1 in one Trait buys +1 in another?)

(As one-for-one swap but player also gets two +1s for free? After all, PCs are supposed to be special...)
