Design Improvements - LoCO-AUV/loco_config GitHub Wiki

Over the course of building, maintaining, and repairing the LoCO AUV, we have decided to keep a record of sticking points and/or improvements that have been brought to our attention.

1. (5/17/2023) The 3s LiPO batteries LoCO is designed to accommodate can vary slightly in size. This can cause difficulties inserting and removing the electronics boards from the tubes, as the batteries press up against the inside of the tube.

2. (5/17/2023) After four years of use, one of the pins on the MOSFET used in the power circuit broke, due to the metal fatiguing. This likely happened from bending the wire back and forth when batteries were plugged/unplugged. In future constructions, apply a generous amount of hot glue to the MOSFET pins and connected wires before applying the large piece of heat shrink. This will help to reduce strain on the individual pins.
