History
Years back, we played a game by the name of Artemis Bridge Simulator. We like the concept a lot. The software, not so much. It was very limited in what it could do. There were only 5 roles (or 6, if you counted captain), some of which were boring roles everyone hated and the others were the only desirable ones.
The game also crashed when the keyboard was unplugged from the server. We found this very amusing... exactly once.
So we looked at that game and said, "We can do better!" and here we are.
What does "LSFN" mean?
There was this one game of ABS we played where our ship had just finished combat. The captain lowered the shields to conserve energy. We then warped to the next group of enemies. The solution to the swarm of enemy ships was nuking them. We got rather too close and did just that, resulting in our untimely demise. Cause of failure: no shield to protect against own-goal-nuking. Hence: "Lower Shields, Fire Nukes".
LSFN
This goal of this project is to design and build a game systems that can allow players to experience those Star-Trek (or other franchise of your choosing) bridge moments they so desire.
Everything that constitutes the LSFN's desired game spirit is represented by the Game Principles.
