First Launch Setup

This guide will walk you through the initial setup and configuration of SkyBlocks+ to ensure the best possible experience. Follow these steps after completing the installation process.

First Time Launch

1. Open your chosen launcher and start SkyBlocks+ for the first time
2. The first launch may take longer than usual as Forge initializes all mods
3. Important: During first launch, the modpack will automatically download and install OneConfig and Essential Mod, which are core components for many other mods
4. After the core mods are installed, a SkyClient-Cosmetic Setup wizard will appear
   • This wizard will automatically optimize Minecraft settings according to your PC specifications
   • We recommend enabling HUD Caching when prompted, as it significantly improves Minecraft graphics performance
5. Once the setup is complete, you'll be taken to the main menu
6. Note: After SkyClient-Cosmetic is installed, you'll see a custom Play Hypixel button directly on the home screen for easy access

Essential Settings

Video Settings

1. From the main menu, click Options → Video Settings
2. Important: Set GUI Scale to Normal (or 2)
   • Higher values can make the interface choppy and excessively large
   • This is especially important for SkyBlocks+ interface elements
3. Adjust your settings based on your computer's capabilities:

Recommended Settings for Lower-End PCs:

• Graphics: Fast
• Render Distance: 6-8 chunks
• Smooth Lighting: OFF
• Particles: Minimal
• VBOs: ON
• Use VSync: OFF
• Max Framerate: Unlimited (or set to your monitor's refresh rate)

Recommended Settings for Higher-End PCs:

• Graphics: Fancy
• Render Distance: 12-16 chunks
• Smooth Lighting: ON (Full)
• Particles: All
• VBOs: ON
• Use VSync: Based on preference (OFF for maximum performance)

OptiFine Settings

1. From Video Settings, explore the OptiFine options (you'll see additional buttons)
2. Recommended OptiFine optimizations:
   • Performance → Fast Render: ON
   • Performance → Fast Math: ON
   • Performance → Smooth FPS: ON
   • Details → Fog: OFF
   • Animations → Turn OFF any animations you don't need
   • Quality → Custom Fonts: ON (for texture pack compatibility)
   • Shaders: OFF (unless you have a high-end PC)

Configuring KeyBinds

SkyBlocks+ includes several mods with custom keybindings. Configure them to avoid conflicts:

1. From the main menu, click Options → Controls
2. Essential KeyBind recommendations:
   • Essential Mod: Disable ALL keybinds except:
     • Screen Shot Manager: Keep on letter I
     • Zoom: Keep on letter C
   • ReplyMod: It's highly recommended to disable ALL ReplyMod keybinds to avoid conflicts
   • Fancy Warp Menu: Set to letter X (recommended for quick navigation)
   • NEU Search Bar: Set to letter E (Not Otherwise Specified mod search)
   • SkyBlockAddons Menu: Default is Right Control - Access the SBA settings

Many mods add their own keybinds which can cause conflicts. Review the Controls menu thoroughly and remove or reassign any conflicting keys.

Mod Configurations

SkyBlocks+ includes numerous mods that need initial setup. Here are the most important ones:

SkyBlockAddons (SBA)

1. Press your configured key to open SBA Menu (default: Right Control)
2. Recommended settings:
   • General → Enable Edit Mode to customize HUD elements
   • Features → Enable "Show Backpack Preview"
   • Features → Enable "Show Item Cooldowns"
   • Features → Configure "Skill Progress Bar"
   • Locations → Position your HUD elements where you want them

Patcher

1. Type /patcher in chat to open the configuration menu
2. Recommended settings:
   • Performance → Enable "Entity Culling"
   • Performance → Enable "Optimize World Switching"
   • Quality of Life → Enable "Better Hit Reg"
   • Quality of Life → Enable "Numbered Ping"

OneConfig Settings

1. Press the OneConfig key (default: Right Shift) or type /oneconfig in chat
2. Explore the unified settings menu for many mods
3. Recommended optimizations:
   • Performance → Enable "Memory Manager"
   • General → Configure HUD layout preferences
   • Graphics → Adjust according to your PC capabilities

Hypixel SkyBlock Settings

When you first join Hypixel SkyBlock with SkyBlocks+, you should:

1. Type /sba to open SkyBlockAddons configuration
2. Go through each tab to customize features for SkyBlock
3. Enable key features like:
   • Damage indicators
   • Health and defense text
   • Item price information
   • Dungeon minimap (if you play dungeons)

Resource Pack Setup

SkyBlocks+ works best with specific resource packs for Hypixel SkyBlock:

1. From the main menu, click Options → Resource Packs
2. If you downloaded any recommended packs (FurfSky Reborn or Hypixel+):
   • Click "Open Resource Pack Folder"
   • Place the downloaded ZIP file in this folder
   • Return to the game and activate the pack

Performance Troubleshooting

If you experience performance issues after launching:

1. Check RAM allocation (see Installation Guide)
2. Try these additional optimizations:
   • Close background applications
   • Update your graphics drivers
   • Set Minecraft to high priority in Task Manager
   • Further reduce video settings if necessary

Common Issues on First Launch

Black Screen or Crash on Startup

• Try allocating more RAM
• Check for incompatible mods or resource packs
• Verify Java version (must be Java 8)

Missing Textures

• Make sure resource packs are properly installed
• Check that OptiFine is correctly installed
• Try restarting the game

Controls Not Working

• Check for key conflicts in the Controls menu
• Reset keybindings and reconfigure them

Server Connection

To connect to Hypixel (the primary server for SkyBlock):

1. From the main menu, click the Play Hypixel button that SkyClient-Cosmetic has added
   • Alternatively: Click "Multiplayer" → "Add Server" → Enter "mc.hypixel.net" → "Done" → Connect
